The application process is easy. You only need to take these 4 steps:
1. Carefully read our conference page to acquaint yourself with YLH, the concept and this year's
topic "Health Workforce".
2. Fill in our application form until the first deadline on the 3rd of June for the early bird
conference fee or until the 18th of June (but with a higher conference fee).
3. Wait until you receive an official confirmation email from us (early to late June).
4. Transfer the conference fee of 100€ or 120€ (depending on the deadline) to the bank account

The Early Bird Fee deadline for applications is 03/06/2019. The 2nd deadline with a higher conference fee ends on the 07/07/2019.
There are no application fees, you are only requested to transfer the conference fee once your participation has been confirmed.
When will I know if I am accepted?
Throughout June, there will be rolling process of admitting participants for the conference. The first wave of decision emails will be send after the 1st deadline on the 3rd of June. The second wave of decision emails will be send after the 2nd deadline on the 18th of June.
Am I accepted as participant once I have applied?
Please note that applying does not automatically mean that you are accepted. Our team will evaluate your application and check your experiences and eligibility before you will receive an official reply to your application.
There are no specific academic requirements. Being an interdisciplinary platform, we welcome people from all different fields of expertise at our conference. Nonetheless, it will be useful to read through the material and links provided in order to be able to actively participate in discussions and gain basic knowledge about the subject of the conference. Being interested in the discussed topic is the most important aspect.
Medical knowledge is absolutely not a requirement. You do not need to be a health professional or a student of a health-related field, in order to attend the conference. We welcome participants from all backgrounds.
Age-Restriction for the YLH Conference 2019
Participation is open for "young" leaders. Therefore, everyone who can be categorized as "youth" is eligible. The United Nations, for statistical purposes, defines those persons between the ages of 15 and 24 as the youth. However, there are conflicting definitions of what can be defined as "youth" That’s why, as a category, youth is more fluid than other fixed age-groups. We acknowledge this fluidity and take individual circumstances into consideration. The general rule is that you should be between the age of 18 and 35. Exceptions to this are possible.
Conference Fee and Funding
Conference Fee and included Services
The Early Bird Confrence Fee is 100€. This fee applies until the 3rd of June. After the 3rd of June, a higher Conference Fee of 120€ applies until the end of the final application deadline on the 07th of July.
The conference fee depends on various factors, such as fundraising, cost for venue etc. In general, we try to keep the fees for participation as low as possible.
Included in the Conference Fee:
participation at the Young Leaders for Health Conference 2019;
materials, placards, certificates, conference guides;
lunch during the conference;
coffee, tea, and snacks during the coffee breaks;
entrance to all the social events;
Not included in the Conference Fee:
visa application cost
Even though we can't provide financial support for traveling and accommodation, we are more than willing to help you to find good and cheap accommodation opportunities.
Refund of the Conference Fee
Unfortunately we are not able to refund the conference fee but if you find someone who wants to take your spot as participant at the conference, you can sell your ticket to them. Just make sure to notify the Organising Committee (we need to make sure we are meeting this person’s dietary and health needs etc).
Availability of Financial Support
Unfortunately, there is no stipend or financial support available for participants. As a non-profit, our budget does not allow us to support travel and accommodation expenses or to waive the conference fee.
Is it possible to pay upon arrival?
Unfortunately, that is not possible. If you have any difficulties with paying via bank transfer, please get in touch with the Organization Committee on firstname.lastname@example.org
Attending the Conference
Expectations for this year's YLH Conference
A very inspiring experience with other motivated students and professionals from across the globe besides a thorough introduction to the topic "Health Workforce". Moreover, presentations and workshops will be held by speakers who are experts in their line of work; you will also get the chance to personally meet them as well as getting the chance to get in touch with young professionals involved in different Global Health agencies. In addition, you will receive a certificate of participation at the Young Leaders for Health Conference 2019.
Will I need to prepare anything for this conference?
We provide you with guides and direction on how to prepare for this event. These will be sent to you as soon as you have been delegated a role. One of the tasks is to generate a short 1-page position paper (i.e. your country's / organisation's position on the conference topic). We will provide you with examples of different types of papers and point you to resources to make this easy.
Additionally, we encourage all participants to bring laptops as we are hoping to be as green as possible, and therefore we will not be printing off any hard copies of the conference documents.
If you are not an EU citizen or a citizen from one of the countries with special visa agreements, you will have to apply for a visa in order to attend the YLH Conference 2019. For information on how to get a visa for Germany, please consult the website of your closest embassy or consulate. You will receive a letter of invitation from us for your visa application.
The conference will be held in English. We kindly ask you to refrain from using your native language when you speak with other delegates during the conference sessions. Communication is key and we want everybody to understand each other.
The YLH-Conference will take place from 15/08/2019 until 18/08/2019 at the Charité Medical University in Berlin, Germany. The venue is Forum III at the Charité Campus Virchow Klinikum, Augustenburger Platz 1, 13353 Berlin. For more information on the venue and how to get there, please click here.
