Mr Per Erlend Hasvold is a Technical Officer at WHO, Geneva HQ, where he is part of the joint WHO and ITU initiative on mHealth for NCDs, Be He@lthy, Be Mobile (BHBM). Per has a MSc in Physics from UIT The Arctic University of Norway, but has worked with telemedicine, eHealth, and mHealth since 1995. Prior to joining WHO in 2015, he worked for the Norwegian Centre for eHealth Research (NSE) where he was leading a research team focusing on personal health services, self-management, and prevention. He has also been leading the Future Telemedicine Laboratory at NSE and the Administrative Leader of Tromsø Telemedicine Laboratory - a Research Driven Innovation Consortium hosted by NSE. His research interests have been on wearable computing, participatory design processes, people-centred healthcare, and innovation in healthcare services.
At the WHO, Per Hasvold has been working to support capacity building in the BHBM-countries and building up mHealth Knowledge and Innovation Hubs as part of the BHBM initiative.
In his spare time, Per can usually be found in some mountain on a bicycle or on skis.
